Company Background
Da Kong in its direct Mandarin translation has a
very vague meaning. "Da" means "big" and "kong"
can mean "space" or "leisure time," among other
meanings. To me, the company Da Kong means
big space, and more specifically it translates
to me as big sky. The idea for this
trading/consulting company was conceived on a
hiking trip in Kinabalu National Park on
Malaysian Borneo-- in the freshest air and in
the clearest mind. In these environs, I
came to realize that it is a big world in which
we live, with a big sky encompassing boundless
opportunities.
Upon my return to China from Borneo, I decided
that I would carry forth with the creation of
the company and it would, in fact, be named Da
Kong; the Mandarin name acknowledges our
presence in China and the meaning acknowledges
the world of opportunities, the bigger picture,
and the big sky. In the spirit of this
particular hiking trip, I have come to believe
that as we carry out the business functions of
our daily lives, we need to remain conscious of
our personal health and happiness. At Da
Kong, we strive toward these goals alongside
those we share and pursue with our clients and
suppliers.
